8 Week Pregnancy | What Does It Feel Like In The First Trimester?

Pregnancy

Now that you have planned to start a family and are 8 weeks pregnant, are you curious about the bodily changes happening to you and the embryo? Do you know that your little one’s arms, legs, and facial features are beginning to take shape? Although you may not see any visible changes in your growing baby bump, you must be noticing that your clothes are starting to feel a tad tight in the waist.

This is a sign that you have created a hospitable and warm environment inside your womb for your baby to grow and develop!!

What does an 8-week pregnancy feel like?

You are in the first trimester of your pregnancy, which is likely to make you a little nervous, especially if this is your first time becoming a mother. Worry no more!! Getting anxious during your first 8 week ultrasound during pregnancy is common for most women due to inexplicable hormonal changes.

Here are a few 8-week pregnancy symptoms you should be aware of:

1. Tiredness

Do you often feel fatigued or tired, especially during the morning while you are in your first trimester of pregnancy? Do not get anxious!! This happens because of a lot of hormonal fluctuations and an increased amount of blood production for the embryo. The hormonal changes in pregnant women also cause an abrupt drop in blood pressure and sugar levels, causing fatigue.

Pro tip: To combat extreme tiredness, it is essential for pregnant women to monitor their sleep cycle. Getting an adequate amount of sleep and small naps during the day can lower the intensity of tiredness.

2. Abdominal Bloating

Are you sick of waking up to a bloated belly since the time you conceived? Do your clothes feel more snug around the waist than usual, even if there is no visible baby bump? Again, it is the hormonal changes caused by pregnancy which is leading to body inflammation and belly bloating.

Pro tip: Although the abdominal bloating is likely to subside after a few weeks, the symptoms can still be worked upon. Consuming anti-inflammatory foods like turmeric infused in warm milk can help prevent inflammation and also aid sleep.

3. Morning Sickness

Has it become intolerable to deal with nausea and morning sickness every single day? As a newly pregnant woman, you must be aware of the intensity of the morning sickness you are suffering from. If the condition is rapidly leading to dehydration, weight loss, abdominal pain, and other complications, you must see a doctor immediately.

Pro tip: Nausea and morning sickness often cause vomiting or dehydration, which is why it becomes essential to increase fluid intake. Include a lot of water, coconut water, lemon water, diluted buttermilk, and other highly nourishing fluids.

4. Stomach Cramps

Do you often experience mild to severe abdominal cramps? If you think these are caused by acidity or bloating, you are only partially correct. Stomach cramps also occur as the uterus starts to grow for accommodating the baby comfortably inside it. Occasional stomach cramps are not a concern; however, if the symptoms worsen, visit your healthcare specialist immediately.

Pro tip: As it is a known fact that abdominal cramps can be caused due to bloating or stomach inflammation, it is advisable to consume light home-cooked meals. Note to eat small portions of meals regularly rather than having bigger portions. This helps with an easy and cramp-free digestion process!

Your healthcare practitioner must have made you aware of the pregnancy symptoms during your 7 weeks ultrasound. Now it is your responsibility to monitor your lifestyle and eating habits for the proper growth and development of your little one!! Happy Motherhood!!
