This is a new “permanent review”. This means that each monthly payment does not have the usual structure of our test drives. Take the Chevrolet Cruze for example, which we tested with the traditional review format.
The goal of “long-term service” is that the test vehicle stays in our hands much longer than the traditional service of a week and a thousand or two thousand kilometers. The idea is to test it for several months, applying its uses (and abuses), to find advantages (and cons) that don’t show up in a traditional test. The Chevrolet Cruze Midnight intro has been posted here, the first monthly report is here, and the second is here. Now it’s the turn of the third and final report, whose basic data and information come from Wapcar Automotive News.
Ever since I found out we’re going to have the Cruze in the garage for a long time, I can’t wait to drive it. In particular, I have long believed that this locally produced Chevrolet will compete more equally with Fiat Cronos, the undisputed leader in the segment and the domestic market as a whole.
There are many arguments. It’s a very well-designed sedan, although I prefer the sedan because it doesn’t need a trunk. In particular, this version of Midnight offers another proposal for its color: a deep metallic blue (Darkmoon Blue for friends and for C.C., who maintained for days that he was black) truly black. suits him and distinguishes him more from the boring Gris Nardo.
I drove it mostly in town and on the highway. What surprised me most was its soundproofing and suspension calibration: we were isolated from the outside and that made us forget the imperfections of the asphalt and cobblestones of Buenos Aires. And it reminds you all the time with start/stop (it can be disabled for those who don’t like it). We’ll have to see what happens in kilometers and years, but what’s important is the (good) base there.
The turbo propulsion is really good, it’s responsive and powerful. The brakes work great, aided by adequate safety equipment. It happened to me that one of the tires was slightly deflated and thanks to the tire pressure monitoring system I fixed it quickly.
It’s quick and easy to handle, plus it’s a good finisher with a quality that exceeds Mercosur’s average. It is spacious and comfortable. In terms of equipment, I emphasize the wireless mobile phone charger and the push-button start system, two elements that I find particularly useful and comfortable.
This is why I went back to what I wrote above. It is a pity that for various reasons this Chevrolet does not rank higher on the list of best-selling cars. Or rather, with fewer distinct units compared to Chronos. Even though CC discovered that the streets are flooded with Cruze, I think this invasion will be even bigger.
What do you think of the Chevrolet Cruze? Have you found our report useful or helpful? We are looking forward to exchanging ideas with you. So, please do not hesitate to leave your comments below this section.
