If you need to copy text from one place to another, don’t worry. Copy and paste on a Chromebook works just like it does on any other operating system, and there are several ways to do it.

First, open a document or web page and select the text you want to copy. Right-click on the selection with two fingers on the trackpad, with the mouse, or by holding the Alt key while clicking, then click Copy.
Alternatively, instead of using the right-click context menu, you can press Ctrl+C to copy the selected text to the clipboard.
Point: If you want to completely remove text from the document when copying it to the clipboard, click “Cut” on the context menu, or press Ctrl + X instead.
How to insert text
Now that you’ve copied the text to your clipboard, open up a document, word processor, or text box (such as Chrome’s address bar) to paste it in place. Click the mouse cursor where you want to paste the text, right-click, and choose Paste from the pop-up menu that appears.
If you prefer a keyboard shortcut instead of a context menu, press Ctrl+V to paste text from the clipboard.

How to paste text on a chromebook without formating
If you’re pasting text into a document, you’ll likely want it to match an already existing format, especially when copying an entire page. Inserting something that has bold, italic, and 16 point style to mess up your document can be frustrating.
The good news is that you can easily remove all this formatting. Right-click on the area where you want to paste the text, but this time click “Paste as plain text” or “Paste without formatting”.
Also, the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + V does the same and removes all text formatting when pasted into a document.
Accessing the Chromebook Clipboard
Chromebooks have a built-in clipboard manager that stores the last five data you copied. This includes text, links and images. You can open the clipboard manager to paste more than the last thing you copied.
You can open the clipboard manager anywhere, but if you really want to paste something, you need to be in a text field or somewhere else that can accept the pasted item. Press Search/Launcher + V. (This is the key above the Shift key on the left side of the keyboard where the Caps Lock key should be.)
The clipboard manager will appear as a floating window. Just select one of the elements to insert.
You can also remove items from the clipboard manager by hovering over them and clicking the “X” icon.
Note: The keyboard shortcut only works if the search/launcher key is set to default behavior. It won’t work if you replace it with the Caps Lock button, for example. Also, clipboard items don’t persist indefinitely. When you sign out or turn off your Chromebook, your clipboard is cleared.
