Do French passport holders need a Canadian visa?

Whether traveling for business or pleasure, French citizens traveling to Canada for up to 6 months must be eligible for a valid visa waiver before entering the country. This paperless travel permit can be applied for exclusively online and is attached to the traveler’s biometric passport.

All French travelers with a valid e-passport are eligible to apply for an eTA Canada visa waiver for French citizens, which is a multiple entry electronic visa waiver. This allows a total stay of up to 180 days (6 months) with each entry into Canada.

Exceptions for French nationals living in St. Pierre and Miquelon

French nationals living in St. Pierre and Miquelon will not need an ETA to travel to Canada if they board a direct flight from the French islands south of Newfoundland.

Each application for the Canada Visa for French Citizens begins by filling out an online form, which takes a maximum of 30 minutes. The form should be filled with the name of the traveler, date of birth, contact details, passport information, and details about the purpose of the trip.

The decision for approval, once made, will be emailed to the address provided during the application process. Approval can occur within an hour, but in some cases can take up to 72 hours, depending on a variety of factors. Travelers are advised to apply for their Canadian ETA visa waiver at least 3 working days prior to the scheduled travel date to avoid any potential disruption to plans.

However, French nationals who urgently need to travel to Canada and those who need an emergency ETA are able to choose an option for emergency processing of the eTA when submitting an application. Applicants can guarantee that they will receive a response about eTA status within about 60 minutes by selecting ‘Emergency Guaranteed Processing in less than 1 hour’ when paying the eTA fee.

The process of applying for an eTA visa waiver for French passport holders is quick and easy and will ensure easy entry into Canada for up to 5 years.

Do German citizens need a Canadian visa?

Getting a Canada Visa for German Citizens holders is quick, easy, and takes you less than 30 minutes.

Travelers can take the first step toward getting their Canadian ETA by starting an online application. In the application, they must fill in information about themselves which includes their full name, date of birth, contact details (such as their address and personal email), employment history, and an initial overview of their itinerary.

Once your electronic authorization is granted in Canada, it is automatically linked to your passport. The best thing about Canadian ETA is that travelers do not have to re-apply for eTA every time they plan to visit Canada: it is good for multiple entries as long as their validity is less than 6 months. Similarly, we recommend that you apply for your Canadian ETA visa at least 72 hours (3 days) in advance so that it has sufficient time to process and approve.

Those traveling to Canada within the next 24 hours and urgently need an ETA from Germany are advised to choose “Emergency Guaranteed Processing” within 1 hour when paying the visa fee. This rush processing option guarantees that the eTA will be processed and the applicant will receive a response within 60 minutes.
