The incident took place in South Sudan last week, NDTV reported.
The cow was grazing next to a farm in the Lakes state of South Sudan in the afternoon. At that time, the cow suddenly pushed the 12-year-old child. The child died on the spot.
Lakes State Police spokesman Major Elijah Mabor said the cow had been detained on charges of killing a child. The cow was taken to the Rambeck Central County Police Station. The owner of the cow has also been arrested.
This is not the first time in South Sudan that an animal has been captured and brought to justice for murder. Less than a month ago, police arrested a sheep in the country’s Lakes state for murder.
It is alleged that the sheep killed a 45-year-old woman. However, the owner of the sheep was not detained. The reason given was that the owner of the sheep was not responsible.
After the trial, the sheep was sentenced to three years in prison. The owner of the sheep was fined five cows. The victim’s family was also instructed to explain.
