If you’re like most people, your kitchen probably doesn’t have enough storage space. This is especially true if you’ve filled it up with an assortment of bulky appliances, such as a refrigerator, microwave and electric kettle. Luckily, there are some simple DIY kitchen cabinet hacks that can help to make the most of your limited space by creating additional storage areas within your existing cabinets. Here are some of the best ways to create more storage in your kitchen cabinets.
Pantry storage solutions
When you consider kitchen cabinets storage, there are three major concerns to keep in mind. The first is how much food storage is needed. For this, the amount of counter space as well as how many drawers will determine how many square feet of pantry storage to install. For instance, if your kitchen has a decent amount of cabinet space and you typically use your oven for cooking then it is not necessary to install much more than one drawer under the oven and maybe two or three more along the wall on either side of it. There are also wall-mounted racks that can provide considerable storage without taking up much space on the floor. This can be a good option if there is limited availability in certain areas that cannot accommodate shelves because of plumbing fixtures such as dishwashers or sinks.
Vertical storage solutions
ALLURE’s team of kitchen cabinet experts have put together a few clever hacks to help make your kitchen more functional and aesthetically pleasing. Here are some of our favorites: Hang tea towels on the underside of upper cabinets for easy access, or hang them from hooks to free up space on lower shelves. Add wire baskets to the top shelf of your oven/microwave unit for extra storage that doesn’t take up counter space. Utilize vertical storage by mounting hooks on the backside of cabinet doors to store pots and pans out-of-sight. Add a pull-out spice rack (or two!) below the stove for easy access when cooking.
Space saving solutions
In the kitchen, we have to consider a number of factors that go into storage and organization. The first is the size of the room. If you have a smaller kitchen, then it will limit your options for cabinets and drawers. However, if you have a larger space with plenty of cabinet space available, then you can consider some of these more complicated hacks to maximize your storage space. Use a tension rod to hang pots and pans from an overhead cabinet. This is especially useful if you are trying to save counter space or want to be able to reach them without having to bend over too much.
Cupboard space-saving hacks
Allure Home Design suggests some great hacks to maximize your kitchen cupboard space. If you have an island, make sure to place it in the middle of the room so that you can use the space underneath for storage. If not, consider a stackable rolling cart on wheels or a pantry cabinet. To keep your pantry organized, try storing items by groupings like canned goods and dry goods-separate them with dividers or magnetic panels. You could also store your utensils and spices on a lazy Susan to make finding what you need quick and easy. To save vertical space, try using dowel rods and hooks for hanging pots, pans and other kitchen gear from ceilings or cabinets.
