The Indian Medical Attendant visa is a visa category for qualified Indian health care workers who want to work in the United States. The IME category was created by the Indian Health Care Improvement Act of 1996 (IHCIA). The IHCIA established a program for the Indian health system to recruit and sponsor health care workers for the United States health care system.
