hajj

The exact date of the Hajj varies from year to year because Islam uses the lunar calendar rather than the Gregorian calendar. According to the Islamic calendar, Hajj is performed between the 8th and 12th days of Dhul Hijjah (the last month of the Islamic calendar). To achieve this holy prayer, it is advised to look out for the best hajj packages 2022 has to give. On these days, pilgrims travel to Mecca by air, land, or sea in the days and weeks before the pilgrimage. If departing from the UK, they can fly to Saudi Arabia and land in Jeddah or Medina. From there, travel with the pilgrimage to Mecca.

Millions of Muslims worldwide flock to Mecca every year for the Hajj, an Islamic pilgrimage that dates back to the deeds of the Prophet Muhammad 1390 years ago. Participating in the Hajj at least once in a lifetime is an essential obligation for all healthy and wealthy Muslims. Between two and three million people each year participate in the six-day ritual.

The step-by-step process of Hajj

Seven rounds of Kabbah.

Wearing the Ihram is the first step in performing the Hajj in any of the five Miqats, followed by the Tawaf in Mecca. After completing this step on the eighth day of Hijra, the pilgrims head to Mina.

In Mina’s tent village, pilgrims usually stay all day until the following day. Pilgrims perform five prayers at Mina, from midday prayers until dawn.

Do all-day prayers on Mount Arafat.

Pilgrims arrive at Arafa on the ninth day of Dulhigja. The day of Arafat is the most important. Many pilgrims pray on this day to commemorate the last sermon of the Prophet Muhammad. In the afternoon, Arafat was used to carrying out Uqf.

Overnight in Muzdalifah.

When the sun goes down, the pilgrims leave and go to Muzdalifah. Pilgrims collect pebbles here, spend the night in the sun, and later throw stones at the devil. Pilgrims finish their pilgrimage prayers at dawn and set off again for Mina just before sunrise.

Run between Safa and Marwa.

The Kabbah does seven laps in Mecca, and the Sahe runs between Safa and Marwa Mountain. Then they drank the water from the Zamzam well and returned to Mina.

Stoned the devil in Mina for three days

Pilgrims should stay in Mina for two or three days before throwing stones at the devil again on the three pillars on the 11th and 12th. To avoid crowds, throwing should be done at specific times. On the tenth day of Dur Hidja, pilgrims throw stones at the pillars. It may be the longest day of the pilgrimage. On returning to Mina, pilgrims perform the first rummy by throwing seven pebbles at a post called Jamarat. It goes back to the story of the devil in Mina who is trying to stop the Prophet Ibrahim from following his orders. Say goodbye to Tawaf in a counter-clockwise direction.

After completing this ceremony, the pilgrims return to Mecca and perform a final tawaf at the Haram Mosque as a “farewell tawaf.” It marks the end of the Hajj.
