What to do if ear bleeding occurs?

When blood from the ear appears due to a slight injury, it is enough to let it flow out and treat the auricle with a solution of hydrogen peroxide or boric alcohol. The same is done if boils burst.

In the case when the cause is not completely clear or ear bleeding cannot be stopped for a long time, a doctor must be called. In the meantime, the patient is being given first aid.

Actions when blood appears are as follows:

  • The victim is seated or the head is laid so as to allow the blood to flow outward without obstruction.
  • Sterile gauze is folded in several layers and a bandage is applied to the ear. Do not cover the ear canal with cotton swabs.
  • A cooling compress is applied over the dressing.

Of the drugs, it is permissible to use a solution of hydrogen peroxide 0.3%. Buried in the ear canal five drops no more than three times a day. This remedy can be used for otitis media.

When blood appears, it is not recommended:

  • try to pull the auricle and look deep;
  • remove foreign bodies if they have caused otorrhagia, especially in a child;
  • try to warm up the ear.

Since ear bleeding is a dangerous symptom, it is better not to delay the process of self-treatment and consult a specialist. Adequate therapy will help to quickly find the cause and effectively eliminate otorrhagia.
