Fiat Fastback 2023: first images of the SUV coupé for Latin America

The truth is that Fiat has not renewed its range for a long time.

It has been introducing electrification in practically all its models with the promise of being a 100% electric brand by 2027 . But in other markets it is innovating and that leaves us with launches as curious as the Fiat Fastback 2023 . It is an SUV coupé that will arrive next year in Latin America (it has been confirmed in Brazil and Argentina) and that offers an approach that could probably fit in our continent.

Thank you for watching

There was previously a prototype with the same name and concept, although now the production version is shown for the first time . It has a design closer to that of the Fiat Pulse that they sell in some markets, in fact, it shares the MLA platform with it , which is specific to South America. They are similar at the front with similar headlights and grille, while the bumpers are sportier and reminiscent of those of the Abarth Pulse . However, in the rear come the differences.

In this part we see a complete redesign thanks to the high waist and the fall of the roof that can remind us of other models with these characteristics. The rear overhang is extended and the drivers take on a more horizontal layout. The body can be finished in two colors to have the roof in black and the wheels adopt a more striking design. In the lower part it also gains sportiness due to its kind of diffuser and false exhaust outlet.

There are still no images of the interior of the Fiat Fastback, but everything indicates that it will be practically identical to that of the Pulse. That would mean 7-inch display instrumentation and a 10.1-inch main touchscreen for infotainment control. Following the same premise, the mechanical range would consist of two gasoline engines. The most interesting would be a 130 hp 1.0 Turbo, although there would also be an atmospheric 1.3 with 107 hp, both with the option of mounting a manual gearbox or a CVT transmission.

In any case, settling on that platform and having this type of mechanics makes it difficult for the Fiat Fastback to reach Europe. In our market they have focused on electrification and it seems that this issue is not possible to have that option . More information about this model will be revealed in the coming months.

Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback: in-depth test of the electric SUV with a coupé touch

One of the brands that has most opted for electrification is Audi. First, with the R8 e-tron that arrived in 2015 and that said goodbye to the market through the back door. Then he focused on SUVs, with the Audi e-tron, a large electric SUV , which he also launched with a coupé body, the Audi e-tron Sportback. Then repeat the play with its access electric model, the Audi Q4 , which has its most dynamic variant in this Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback .

The brand with the four rings is not the only one that bets on these bodies. It occurs in other companies of the Group. In this way, the Skoda Enyaq – see test – already has its most passionate equivalent, the Enyaq Coupé . And the Volkswagen ID.4  -see test- , has its sportier face with the ID.5 .

Other manufacturers have also opted for dynamically cut bodies for their electric SUVs. We are talking about models that we have tested, such as the Ford Mustang Mach-E , the Kia EV6 or the Volvo C40 . For now, the great rival brands of Audi, Mercedes and BMW do not have this type of body but we would not be surprised if they arrive.

Today we are going to get to know this Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback in depth to discover what this body offers compared to the conventional one. Also if you are interested in paying the 52,200 euros that they ask for it from the start and how it looks when we compare it with other electric SUVs with the same bodywork.

Exterior

Today we are going to start with the rear because it is the most special part of the car. It is in this area where we have that more pronounced roof drop that differentiates it aesthetically from its brother, the Q4 “just plain”. A more suggestive SUV is thus achieved, with this spoiler on the rear window, which is divided into two parts.

Behind we also have, in the lower part, a satin black diffuser in this unit with the term e-tron. And, on the gate, the light band that joins the rear lights, a detail that we see more and more in many models, without going any further the Audi e-tron GT.

In addition to a slimmer silhouette, this body achieves better aerodynamics, specifically a Cx of 0.26, while the Q4 e-tron stays at 0.28. That gives it, in the laboratory, 12 km more autonomy. I like the tension line that starts at the top of the optics, emphasizing the high hips.

Huge 21-inch wheels in our unit, although in the simple finishes they are 19. They are finished in bronze and stand out with the gloss black wheel arches, joined by a piece in the same material between both axes, which stand out the ballast gray color of the bodywork.

The Q4 e-tron Sportback looks longer, but its dimensions hardly vary from the conventional Q4 e-tron. It measures 4,588 mm in length (just 1 cm more). It is 1 cm lower, it stays at 1,632 mm and they share the same width (1,865 mm and a wheelbase of 2,770 mm.

At the front, what is most striking is the huge Single frame grille, with the four rings in the middle. The grille is active, it opens and closes depending on the cooling needs. Under the grille, the inscription e-tron and, already at the ends of the car, two air intakes that increase the feeling of width of the car. Highlight lighting. In the case of the Matrix LEDs of our unit, you can configure it in four different styles, they are key in the design of the car.
