The GoechaLa pass hike is a collection of massive summits and is a true adventure. The trail’s connection to the well-known Kanchenjunga National Park, where one can experience pure nature, is enough to revive your senses. April and May are the best months to view the mountains. Since the sky is entirely clear at this time of day, it is possible to photograph the views of the sun setting and rising.

7 nights of triple-sharing camping while on the hike.

Yuksom’s Location:

With a train:

A significant railway hub southwest of Sikkim is called New Jalpaiguri, or NJP. The NJP station serves a large number of long-distance trains that arrive and depart from it. You can decide to travel to Kolkata and board one of the numerous trains that go to NJP. Any northeast train that bypasses Kolkata and travels directly to NJP is your best bet if you’re traveling from Delhi or the northern region of India.

From the Air:

Although flights to Bagdogra are often more expensive than those to Kolkata, flying there is still a choice you have. Almost all Indian metropolises have flights available to you.

Itinerary for the Goechala Trek

Day 1: Drive to Yuksom (5,670 feet) from Bagdogra Airport or NJP (7 Hours)

As you drive from Bagdogra Airport/NJP to Yuksom, take in the breathtaking sights of the Himalayas to set the tone for your great journey.

You will go along the raging Teesta River on your journey to Yuksom, after which you will ascend a hill and cross a bridge in Legship.

After arriving in the town, check into a hotel and go to bed.

From Yuksom to Sachen, hike (7,150ft)

Today will be the start of the ascent to the Goechala Pass! Start climbing and following the gorges of the Rathong River early in the morning.

Trek towards the Paha Khola Bridge via the verdant fern, rhododendron, and magnolia thickets.

Enjoy a picnic lunch along the way to keep yourself going for the rest of the trip; be on the lookout for unique orchids, vibrant flowers, and monkeys as you go!

Trek from Sachen to Tshokha (9,700 feet), passing through Bhakim (8,600 feet).

This journey continues to be a favorite with hikers and trek guides alike for more reasons than just getting close to renowned Mt. Kanchenjunga. The most fascinating aspect of this walk is seeing some of the famous Himalayan peaks so close-up and in life-size. For instance, we will set up camp directly beneath Mt. Pandim on the fifth day of the hike. By the time we reach summit day, Mt. Pandim’s peak appears to be only a day’s climb away, deceivingly close.
