How to change the NAT type on your PS4 IP Booter?

PS4 IP Booter

If you experience an unusual delay and disconnection while playing your PS4 IP Booters online with your friends, the problem may not be with your ISP, especially if it is not affected by other Internet features.

Instead, this is usually a problem with the NAT type being set incorrectly. Because the NAT type is a security measure, it can sometimes become overprotective on your network and exclude all outside connections.

This article explains what the NAT type is, how it affects your PS4 IP Booters connection, and how to switch it using a router.

What is the NAT type?

Network Address Translation (NAT) is a method in which a network device (mostly a firewall) sets a public IP address for all devices on the same network. The NAT type reduces the number of IP addresses in a single private network.

One of the key benefits of the NAT type is its ability to hide your private IP address, keeping your network secure. This is convenient for internal connections such as browsing the Internet, checking your mailbox, or joining a game. Because the connection was initiated from within the network, data flows into and out of the network seamlessly.

However, this is not the case if the connections were initiated from the outside. The router is sometimes unable to identify the internal IP address to which the connection is intended. External connections include joining multiplayer lobbies, in-game group discussions, and other multiplayer features.

NAT types

You can configure three different NAT types for your network.

  1. Type 1 – Open: The open NAT type gives you the best gaming experience, but it opens your connection completely. This defeats the sole purpose of NAT, which is to shut it down and make it secure. So if you want to make your connection vulnerable in return for smooth online gaming, you should choose this type.
  2. Type 2 – Moderate: This is the perfect balance between security and connectivity for your PS4 IP Booters. The device stays behind the router and can receive external connections. You can connect to all online games and download content online without worrying about your security.
  3. Type 3 – Strict: If you are having problems with your PS4 network gaming, the NAT type is probably set to 3. This means that the console is behind the router and firewall and there are no network ports coming. You can connect to other games and players, but no one can connect to you. For example, you can never host an online game with NAT type

How to check NAT type on PS4

Checking the NAT type is a simple process. You need to start your PS4IP Booters and follow these instructions.

  1. Open the Settings menu.
  2. Click Network.
  3. Go to Show Connection Status.
  4. Wait for the scan to complete and look for the NAT type at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Write down your IP address and default gateway somewhere. You need them if you want to change the NAT type.

Changing the NAT type

You cannot change the NAT type directly on your PS4 IP Booters. The only way to edit it is through the router settings. Because these options may vary from one router to another, you need to know the type of your router and create a manual (or find one on the Internet) before proceeding.

  1. Open a browser on your computer.
  2. Enter the address of the default gateway that you wrote down in the previous section.
  3. Press Enter to open the router menu.
  4. Enter your login information to access the settings.
  5. Find the UPnP option in the settings and enable it. This means ‘Universal Plug and Play’ and allows different devices on similar networks to recognize each other.

There are then two ways to change the NAT type – either place your device in the DMZ (demilitarized zone) or open the forwarding ports.

Method 1: Set the PS4 to DMZ

A DMZ is a network located between a secure (home network) and an insecure (other Internet). This means that your device can receive connections from outside, but is still vulnerable to intruders and data theft.

Follow these steps to insert the console into the DMZ:

  1. Find the DMZ settings in the router menu.
  2. Enable the DMZ and enter the IP address of the PS4 IP Booters (you have previously written it down).
  3. Save new changes.
  4. Open PS4 Settings and see if your NAT type is different.

Method 2: Forward the ports

Forwarding ports is a safer way, but it doesn’t work all the time. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Find the forwarding ports menu in your router’s settings. The name depends on the type of your router, but it is usually either “Virtual Servers”, “Port Forwarding” or something similar.
  2. Add custom forwarding ports.
  3. These are the numbers and types (either TCP or UDP) you need to add: 80 (TCP), 443 (TCP), 3478 (TCP and UDP), 3479 (TCP and UDP), and 3480 (TCP). You must specify a name and IP address (the same one you wrote down) for each individual port.
  4. Confirm changes.
  5. Check the NAT type of the PS4.

After you make these changes, your NAT type will usually change to Type 2, regardless of the method. If you want to switch to the fully open type, you will need to remove or bridge the router so that only the PS4 can communicate with the network. This is not recommended.

No more delay

If you have successfully switched NAT type, you should see improvements in your online gaming immediately. This is because external data can flow seamlessly into your private connection without interruption or delay.

The best part is that NAT Type 2 still keeps your network secure when you play games or browse the web. However, you should always scan your Internet connection for unwanted data or security vulnerabilities.
