Manga is a style of Japanese graphic novels and comic books. The term “manga” can refer to both the genre and its medium, though it is often used in English to describe comics produced in Japan. Manga-influenced comics, among original works, exist in other parts of the world, particularly in countries with large Japanese expatriate communities.
What is MangaOwl?
MangaOwl is a peer-to-peer digital library. We don’t sell anything; if you want to read a book, you have to upload it first. Our goal is to build the largest possible library of manga, manhwa, and manhua (strictly speaking, “manhwa” refers only to Korean comics). We currently host over 20,000 titles in our collection and we’re growing every day.
MangaOwl is completely free to use and open source. We host your files for free, and we’ll never charge you anything to access them. You can even upload from anywhere in the world—we don’t restrict you by country like some of our competitors do. If you see something that’s missing from MangaOwl that you’d like to add, just let us know and we’ll happily accommodate your request.

MangaOwl launched in beta on September 1st, 2014, and has been growing steadily since then. It’s gained traction through word-of-mouth and social media as users share their excitement about access to a wealth of manga that they didn’t know was out there. The site is already regularly recommended by reviewers at major anime news sites such as Anime News Network and was chosen by Crunchyroll as one of their featured apps for the fall lineup of 2014. Users can even read manga from Crunchyroll directly on MangaOwl.
When you log into MangaOwl, you enter the Library where you can use filters across all series to find things you want to read based on genre, character, artist, etc. You can also search for specific titles or authors.
