What You Should Know About ITIL Foundation

ITIL Foundation

The ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) standardizes the delivery of IT services through systematic approaches to ITSM (IT service management). ITIL Foundation is one of the most sought-after IT certifications for a good reason.

ITIL Foundation is an IT management framework, assists businesses in managing risk, building customer relationships, establishing cost-effective procedures, and ensuring a stable environment that allows for change, scale, and growth. Here are a few more details about the ITIL Foundation.

Comparing ITIL Versions 3 and 4 and Their Differences

In 2019, Axelos upgraded ITIL 4 to emphasize guaranteeing flexibility, agility, and innovation in ITSM while still providing enough support for legacy systems and networks. As a result, ITIL 4 is fully operational this year, and Axelos intends to phase down the prior version by next year.

Those with the Expert Level ITIL 3 certificate can choose the transition mode and exam, which will update their knowledge and certify them in the latest version. For those needing the Expert Level certification, credits will be transferred from ITIL 3 to ITIL 4.

ITIL 4 Certification Pathways

The ITIL certification four systems are the same as ITIL 3, albeit the former has been condensed to include two significant designations and seven modules between certificates. You will go from Foundation to either Strategic Leader or Managing Professional. You can stop along either of these courses or complete both and get the Master’s distinction.

ITIL Fundamentals

The first step is to complete the foundation module regardless of which certification path you choose. The introductory lesson covers ITIL 4’s fundamental principles and concepts. As an entry-level certification, it is designed to teach beginners the fundamentals of ITIL 4. However, it also verifies that even seasoned professionals have acquired the essential information required to attend the advanced modules.

ITIL Managing Consultant

ITIL Managing Professional is a qualification for practitioners who work in organizations with tech and digital teams. It entails the technical and practical knowledge required for running IT procedures, groups, and projects. The following exam modules must be passed to obtain this certification:

Specialist Create, Deliver, and Support Stakeholder Value Specialist Extremely Fast IT Strategist Strategic Leader Direct, Plan, and Improve ITIL

An ITIL online course for this certification is intended for all digital services in an organization, not just IT operations. It focuses on the various ways in which information technology transforms and influences company strategy. To obtain this certification, you must pass the following exam modules:

Leader Digital and IT Strategy Strategist. Direct Plan and Improve

ITIL Expert

You can choose the Master designation if you complete the modules required for the Managing Professional and Strategic Leader certifications. As a result, you will need at least five years of experience in IT service management, preferably in a management or leadership role.

ITIL 4 and ITIL 3 compatibility

ITIL 4 and ITIL 3 are backward compatible. It means that courses in the ITIL 3 scheme have a credit value based on the degree of ITIL content. As a result, the ITIL 3 certification is still valuable in ITIL education.

ITIL 4 Managing Professional Transition exam candidates must have at least seventeen credits or hold the Expert level certification under ITIL 3. This test will help applicants stay updated on the newest updates and put them on the path to earning the new Managing Professional credential.
