When you’re unsure of what music to listen to, Spotify’s shuffle option is a wonderful way to add some variety to your playlist. However, it can be somewhat unpleasant to have your mood lifted by an energetic song, Get More Information only to be derailed by the heartbreak ballad that follows.

Shuffle can be turned off in Spotify’s media controls by maximizing the currently playing song and tapping the Shuffle button until it turns grey. This button has the appearance of two intertwined arrows. The dot beneath the button, which is highlighted in green, indicates that the button is in shuffle mode.

Music in your queue will be played before any music is generated at random. It will always play in the same order unless you remove a song from your queue.

The shuffle can be turned off using either the desktop application or the web player by clicking the shuffle button until it turns grey. This button, which resembles two intertwined arrows, is located at the bottom of the playback bar.  The button will be highlighted in green with a dot below it if shuffle mode is active.

Music in your queue will take precedence over the music generated at random if you specify that preference. A song in your queue will always play in the same order until you delete it.
